Road to Carmel..!

I stood there wondering if this was the last time I am going to see her. I was wet in the downpour and my tears encapsulated within the rain drops trickling down my face incessantly. I couldn’t fathom the pain triggering within my chest and I felt my stomach rumbling and in seconds I felt like throwing up. She walked down the street wearing a black dress carrying an umbrella leaving me behind with abyssal remorse. She finally reached the end of the street where it had a blinding turn and there she disappeared from my visibility.

I stood there having flashbacks of whatever happened all this while as though I was watching a movie frame by frame. I could hear someone playing the tune “Tune mere jaana kabhie nahi jaana” and that was when I heard something shatter within me… I was completely broken!!

I still can smell the freshly baked cookies Dadda (Granny) had pulled out of the oven. The heavenly appetizing aroma always had intrigued me of what she'd put in them which made them so mouth-watering. In a blinking moment they would just disappear from the tray leaving her without a clue who might've taken them. She always knew who was the culprit but pretended to be perplexed. Oh Dadda! How I miss you!

The sudden knock at the door made the housekeeper run towards it. There was this little girl standing at the doorway holding a basket full of fruits. She was accompanied by her mother. They were our new neighbours who recently moved in to the cottage next door.
